Celebrating 90 Years of Continuous Scouting

Happy 90th Birthday Troop #79

Boy Scout Troop #79 meets every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Southlawn School on Rawlinson Rd in West Irondequoit whenever school is in session.

We have been an active troop since we began in 1921 and almost 100 of our boys have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Our emphasis is on fun and learning and the rank advancement comes along as a result of the program.

Our Troop is based on the Patrol Method where the older boys plan and carry out the Troop Meetings and Activities with Adult Supervision. This helps to develop the leadership skills needed for the higher ranks and life in general.

We are a family based troop with many activities for the boys and some activities for the whole family. Activities include camping, swim nights, picnics, bike rides, rock climbing, mountain climbing, canoeing, summer camp, and much more. We currently have 5 active boys and many active family members. We always welcome new boys and their families.
