Mountain High Adventure
Session
#4 – 6-Day Adirondack Adventure – July 16th - July 21st, 2012 (Monday
to Saturday)
Monday…We
will meet at 45 Britton Rd at 8:30 AM on Monday to go over the final details
of our trip, check equipment, plan menus, buy food, pack the trailer and leave
for the Adirondack Mountains. A full equipment list will be provided when you
register for this session.
We will camp at Wilmington Notch State Park located near Whiteface Mountain just outside of Lake Placid, New York. If the weather is good we may go for a short hike and some swimming before dinner. After dinner, we will have a campfire and bed.
Tuesday…
After a good breakfast, we will spend the day Rock Climbing on Pitchoff
Mountain and maybe near Chapel Pond near Keene Valley. Maybe some swimming in
Lake Placid, then it is back to camp for dinner, another campfire, perhaps
some Dutch oven or reflector oven baking and then bed.
Wednesday… An
early rise, a good breakfast, and then off to the High Peaks for a
hike to the top of Cascade and Porter Mountains for some incredible views of the Adirondack
High Peaks region. Maybe we will have time for some swimming in Lake Placid,
and then back to camp for dinner, another campfire and bed.
Thursday… We
will pack up and head for the Cranberry Lake area where we will do a
two-night canoe trip up the Oswegatchie River towards the Five Ponds
Wilderness Area. During the days we will
explore the connecting streams, go swimming and maybe see some
wildlife.
Saturday… After a good breakfast and maybe a swim, we will pack up, load the canoes, and paddle back to the cars. We will be back home around 4:30 PM.
