Mountain High Adventure

Session #3  – 6 Day Adirondack Adventure – July 11th to July 16th, 2010

(Sunday to Friday)

Sunday…We will meet at 45 Britton Rd at 8:30 AM on Sunday to go over the final details of our trip, check equipment, plan menus, buy food, pack the trailer and leave for the Adirondack Mountains. A full equipment list will be provided when you register for this session.

We will camp at Wilmington Notch State Park located near Whiteface Mountain just outside of Lake Placid, New York. If the weather is good we may go for a short hike and some swimming before dinner. After dinner, we will have a  campfire and bed.

Monday… After a good breakfast, we will spend the day Rock Climbing on Pitchoff Mountain or near Chapel Pond near Keene Valley. Maybe some swimming in Lake Placid, then it is back to camp for dinner, another campfire, perhaps some Dutch oven baking and then bed.

Tuesday… An early rise, a good breakfast, and then off to the High Peaks for an all day hike to the top of Hurricane Mountain.  Maybe we will have time for some swimming, then back to camp for dinner, another campfire and bed.

Wednesday… We will pack up and head for the Floodwood Pond area near the north end of Upper Saranac Lake for 2 nights in the wilderness. It is an area of small to large ponds with short portages connecting them. Good swimming, a lot of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We will paddle from pond to pond, spending each night in a different campsite. Lots of good food, campfires, and a chance to explore await us there.

Friday… After a good breakfast and maybe a swim, we will pack up, load the canoes, and paddle back to the cars. We will be back home by 4:30 PM.
