Mountain High Adventure
Session #2 – Introduction to Adventure – July 5th - July 9th, 2010
(Monday
to Friday)
We will meet each
day at my house (45 Britton Rd. off Lake Ave.) around 8:30 AM and return there
about 4:30 PM
Monday… 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- We will be at Braddock Bay today. Learn about canoeing safety.
What is a canoe? How do you use one without falling out? How do you steer
one? Let’s play canoe hide and seek? Let’s go exploring! We will play some
games and then "Lets go swimming!".

Bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, full water bottle, water
shoes (optional) and sunglasses (optional). Bring a lunch. Bring a small backpack (book bag) to
carry your stuff.
Tuesday… 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM – Today,
we will be paddling Irondequoit Creek and playing at Ellison Park. We will have
a chance to swim in the rapids, play some games, and use the map and compass and
the GPS to find some treasure. We will have a picnic lunch today. If there is time, we will go swimming at
Charlotte Beach or Durand before returning home.

Bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, full water bottle, water
shoes or old sneakers and sunglasses (optional). Bring a small backpack (book bag) to
carry your stuff.
Wednesday… 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Today we will be riding our bicycles. We may ride between 7 and 10 miles
total. We will start by checking the bicycles and making any needed adjustments.
We will go over bicycle safety rules. Finally, we will leave for our ride. We
will ride along the Barge Canal Path from Genesee Valley Park looking for hidden
items. Afterwards, we will eat lunch, play some games and, if there is time left, we will go swimming at Charlotte Beach or
Durand before returning to Britton Rd.

Bring a lunch, swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, full water bottle,
water shoes (optional) and sunglasses (optional). Bring a small backpack (book
bag) to carry your stuff and a bike.
Thursday – Friday… Overnight. We will meet at 8:30 AM on Thursday to plan our menu and check over our equipment for our overnight trip to Stony Brook State Park. We will go shopping, pack everything into the trailer, and leave for the overnight. We will spend the two days hiking and exploring, swimming, fossil hunting and having fun. Everyone will get a chance to cook, clean up, set up tents, hang out around the campfire, toast marshmallows, and make smores. If everything works out, we may also do some Dutch oven cooking like cobbler or baking a cake. We will be back by 4:30 PM on Friday.
· Bring comfortable clothing, warm fleece or sweater, jacket, raincoat, eating utensils (plastic cup, bowl, plate and silverware), flashlight, sleeping bag, swimsuit and towel, personal items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc), small backpack (for hiking), water bottle, camera (optional),
