Mountain High Adventure
Session #1 – Introduction to Adventure – June 25th to June 29th, 2012
(Monday
to Friday)
We
will meet each day at Mendon Ponds Park (exact location to be determined) around 8:30 AM and
return there about 4:30 PM
Monday… 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM - We will be at Mendon Ponds today. Learn about canoeing safety. Let’s explore the ponds and look for wildlife. Maybe we will swamp the canoes for the fun . Maybe we will do some fishing to catch the "Big One". After a picnic lunch we will play some active games, do a craft and then "let’s go swimming!".

We will supply a picnic lunch. Bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, full water bottle,
water shoes or old sneakers and sunglasses (optional). Bring a small backpack (book
bag) to carry your stuff. |
Tuesday... 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Today we will be doing a bicycle treasure hunt. We may ride between
5 and 7 miles
total. We will start by checking the bicycles and making any needed adjustments.
We will go over bicycle safety rules. Finally, we will leave for our ride.
Afterwards, we will play some
games, maybe a craft and swimming.

Wednesday... 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Today we will learn how to use a map and compass as well as a GPS. We will use map and compass and the GPS to find treasures, play on a low ropes course, play some games, plan our menu for the overnight and then swimming and sand castles.

Thursday to Friday... Overnight. We will meet at 8:30 AM on Thursday to check over our equipment for our overnight trip to Stonybrook State Park. We will pack everything into the trailer, and leave for the overnight. We will spend the two days playing, swimming, exploring the gorge and waterfalls maybe some fossil hunting and having fun. Everyone will get a chance to cook, clean up, set up tents, hang out around the campfire, toast marshmallows, and make smores. If everything works out, we may also do some Dutch oven or reflector oven cooking like cobbler or baking a cake. We will be back by 4:30 PM on Friday.
