Mountain High Adventure Camp 2015 - Week #1 Photo Page

On Monday, we went canoeing and kayaking on Irondequoit Creek. We started at the Irondequoit Bay and paddled up into the wetlands to see how many different kinds of wildlife we could see.  Afterwards, we drove to Ellison Park and cooked up some hot dogs and burgers for a picnic lunch and some games.

We started Tuesday with some crafts and checking the bikes for safety and then took off for our 12 mile bicycle treasure hunt. All the kids did AWESOME! on the ride. We found all the clues, even the hard ones, and put them in a safe place to decipher later. The treasure hunt took us to Charlotte beach where we had lunch, rode the Merry-Go-Round, played in the sand for a while (the beach was closed for swimming) and rode out to the end of the pier before heading towards home. Once home, we deciphered the secret code, had our treasure, and played some games until the parents arrived.

Wednesday morning we went to Ellison Park to do some hiking, check out Fort Schuyler (an old trading post) and play a round of disc golf on the very hilly course. When we finally returned home, there was some time so we set up the 50 foot slip-n-slide and played on that and the climbing wall until it was time to go home.

On Thursday morning we sat down to plan our menu for the overnight camping trip to Stony Brook State Park. Everyone went to Wegmans to help with the shopping and then we were off on the long drive to camp.  Arriving, we quickly set up camp, made lunch, then put on our swimsuits and hiked down the trail to play in the water. We stayed at the lower end of the park for a while, enjoying the great playground and then hiked back using the upper rim trail. Arriving back at camp, we cooked up a delicious dinner and played around camp until it was time for a campfire before going to bed. Friday morning, some of us went upstream looking for fossils and more fun while part of the group played games near the car. We arrived home just as the parents were arriving to end our fun week at camp.
